Who actually goes out to find people who are rough sleeping?
This is done by a street outreach team which has been commissioned by the local council to provide a service in their area. Outreach workers are trained to offer support and will look at the options available to help people who are sleeping rough as well as provide all the right information at the right time for each person.
Can the partnership provide accommodation?
The YMCA, Girica, Derventio and Prospect Housing provide accommodation for rough sleepers. If there is a waiting list then all of the organisations listed on this website can suggest emergency accommodation that may be available. Rough Sleepers who are not already seeking help from the Council should contact Housing Options, generally open in office hours in Market Place, Burton, or phone the team on 01283 508120.
