People in Burton upon Trent who are facing challenges in their lives now have the chance for personalised support from Derventio.
In April 2020, our successful Home4Me service expanded to the Burton area. Home4Me is for people who are dealing with significant challenges in their lives. They might be sleeping on the streets and dealing with debt or addiction. Some will have been supported by other services in the past, but for whatever reason, this has not worked.
Through Home4Me we take the time to get to know people. We find out what they are good at and where they want to be in their lives. We can then work together to make changes. This could be anything from big things like finding a secure home or changing the habits of a lifetime, or smaller steps such as improving hygiene or learning to use a washing machine.
Assistant Director Jackie Carpenter said: “It is an interesting time to launch a new service in the midst of a pandemic. However, we are working closely with the council so that we can offer Home4Me to the people who most need it in Burton. We all know that this type of support is more crucial than ever, and we will eventually also be able to offer homes in Derventio housing as part of the project.”
Home4Me has already been running in Derby for two years. East Staffordshire Borough Council have commissioned the service to run for twelve months in Burton, where we will support 10 people to make significant changes in their life.
